I went to camarines sur 2 weekends ago – that place rocks!

Anyway, it was probably more than a year since I last tried out wakeboarding. I occassionaly go with some friends to Lago de Oro – Calatagan where they also have a cable park for wakeboarding. I never really completed one round and always wiped out but it was fun. At the end of the day, you discover new parts of your body in pain mostly due to your wipe outs!
The trip to camarines sur took around 8 hours by bus. We took penafrancia bus lines (lazy boy seats) that left at around 9pm from their cubao bus station near Araneta Center. It costs around Php 750 bucks – one-way. Its fun to take the bus especially if you can stretch your legs and comfortably get some sleep. I prefer taking the bus coz you don’t have to deal with the long wait to check in the airport, get your stuff inspected, wait for the flight, realize that its delayed and when you land you go through it again. If you take the bus you just hop in, sit down and get some rest. Only problem with travelling at night is that everyone expects you to sleep right away. We had first hand experience of your typical “oldies” guy that suddenly asked us if we had plans to sleep – he was seating behind us and got bothered by our excitement.
When we arrived at Naga bus terminal, we didn’t know that we could phone up the resort and ask them to pick us up (ha ha ha) so we hitched a ride to the next terminal to catch another bus. This bus then dropped us off at main entrance where you can catch a tricyle to take you to the resort. So note to self – call and ask them to pick you up! It wasn’t a big deal tho’ because we were so excited to get there.

Day 1 plan, initially, was to work all morning (the whole place has wifi) and start riding in the afternoon. So we checked in at around 6 in the morning, went out to check out the place and hooked up laptops. Ka-boom! no connection due to the scattered thunderstorms. We got some breakfast and guess what – TIME TO RIDE!!! So at 830am we hit it.
By the way, the place was huge! You can check out their website to get more details. Its posted below. They have 2 kinds of rooms that you can stay in – industrial containers converted to rooms and small cozy cabanas. We stayed the first night at the industrial container type rooms which wasn’t bad at all. It had a spacious bathroom, a tv, dvd player and the interior wasn’t that bad – it was actually comfortable. For Php1,000 bucks a night, not bad and it fits 2. Only 2 because the bed took up most of the space and if you plan to setup on the floor, I’m afraid there’s not enough space. Anyway, the cabanas were priced at Php1,250 a night and can easily accomodate 2-4 persons but it only comes with 2 single beds. Its way bigger and cozier compared to the container type ones and its closer to the cable park. So we moved there the next day – for an additional Php250 bucks, its well worth it.

Back to riding on day 1:
Its been a while and I brought my wake skate (no bindings) that I bought from my friend a while back. Its been sitting at my place for quite some time and its time for it to serve its purpose. Surprisingly, I was able to stand up first try and actually made it all the way around, probably 4/5 of the way around using my wake skate. Fun fun fun – the wiping out made me feel young.

The food was moderately priced considering the amenities that they offer. An average meal will probably cost you Php150 bucks. Just ask for water, its probably safe to drink and besides, you’ve been drinking a lot of water anyway from wiping out. To save money, loco moco at Php100 is perfect – 2 burger patties on top of rice with special gravy sauce on the breakfast menu. Try all the meals with java rice! Their java rice is very tasty. Oh by the way, don’t bother ordering for extra egg – they charge Php 30 bucks for it.. haha, i’d rather order beer which was priced at Php40. Grilled baby back ribs with java rice – mouthwatering! The CWC burger – yummy!
I’ll continue this some other time – 3 more days to talk about plus the skate park adventure with our dboards!
Check out their website: http://www.camsurwatersportscomplex.com/ – worth the trip.
