Part 1: What I Still Want to Do in My Life

Hey there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed or join our Monster Emails for updates. You can also follow me on Twitter.

I’ve been quiet for the past 2 weeks and I owe this blog a few more adventures. But before that, I’d like to get this out of the way and post up real quick. This is a partial list because I’m pretty sure that I can add to this almost daily just by watching TV. Anyway, I’ll keep it generic for now.

Are you ready? Here’s my list.

1. Travel the world

I’m sure this is on everyone’s list. Its probably something that I got from my father. He’s proud of this plaque that he hangs on his wall – a certificate stating that he has gone around the world. I envy it the most.

If your not into traveling and exploring new sights and cultures then something is probably wrong with you. Go see a doctor please.

2. Get really good at something and compete on a professional level

Now why is this in my list? Simple. Every man is born with the need to compete whether its in sports or in some other technical field. Thinking back, I always question why I never got into a sport or hobby that I really took to heart and obsessed about to the point where I can do it full time because I’m really good at it. Loser.

I just feel that I’ve been exploring a lot of different hobbies and trying out new things all the time but never committed to it. At this age I wonder what else can I do. Hmmm…

3. Get a Black Belt

You will probably find this one a little to shallow to even make it on a list of things to do with your life. Screw you! Hahaha, just kidding. Its a childhood dream that I can’t seem to let go. If you’re wondering what the hell – black belt – I’m referring to the highest level in some form of Martial Arts. Why not just go out and do it? Is it because I have no time or because I get bored of it after a while? Who knows but anyway – no excuses. So I’m keeping this in my list.

4. Get a Tattoo

A tattoo for me represents something permanent. Something that will always be there and that’s why I want to get one. Plus, its cool. I have a few ideas already but I’m thinking if I should get a really big one or build it up with small ones. I like the idea of having one big piece because it shows a strong message and the quality and theme is consistent. But then, having small ones give you variety in meaning and as we all know, the best tattoos are associated with strong memories. I’d have to think about that.

I want to get tattooed by Yoji Harada of Miami Ink. Hahaha, that will be cool.

5. Do something Extreme

Skydiving, Base jumping, Crocodile wrestling – just to name a few. I’m not serious about the crocodile wrestling but I’m willing to try. I’ll define extreme as something that could possibly be the last thing you do in your life – in short, you can die or seriously injure yourself. I’m probably not going to do as many “extreme” things but at least one.

6. High Roller Night

I’m looking forward to this. The idea is to save an insane amount of money and blow it off in a fancy casino and if I win… I’ll throw a huge party. Yey!

7. Play a Musical Instrument

I’ve tried learning how to play the guitar and I did learn a few songs but its not like I know the chords. As a child, I took a few piano lessons (Thanks Mom!) but I can’t seem to stick to it. If I only knew that playing the piano would be a big hit once you hit puberty then I probably took it seriously. That’s the problem – when you’re young, no one really takes the time to sit you down and explain the benefits of whatever it is that they’re pushing you to do.

Anyway, I’m considering something classy like learning to play the saxophone. Awesomeness.

8. Change Someones Life

This one is a bit corny but I think everyone should have this in their lists. Now just to be clear – change for the better ok, not make it worst.

I don’t think that this is difficult to do but it will require some careful considerations. You know what I mean.

9. Start a Collection

Most of you probably think that everyone has a collection of some sort. I don’t! And I don’t know why. When I was young I had a collection of different currencies – it got stolen. I also tried collecting keychains – got boring after a while. I see some value in this because of the stories you hear about a weird grandpa or uncle that everyone has who prides himself of a certain collection. Its just something that you can show off and pursue when you retire. Essentially, this one can wait but I want to start one soon.

10. Build Something with My Own Two Hands

Now this gravitates towards my need to be creative. I define this as some work of art or even a useful object that I made with my own two hands. When I was in my teens, I built a doll house for my sister – it felt great because her barbie dolls could fit in it. I also built a ramp for rollerblades from old cabinets – I crashed and my parent had it dismantled. Hahaha. Those were the days.

Anyway, I want to sculpt or paint a masterpiece.. or build a tree house. Whatever it is, I want to feel that sense of fulfillment again – something to be proud of.

That’s about it for now. 10 things that I still want to do with in my life. While writing this, I thought of my next entry – What I’ll do with unlimited funds (fun things only) so stay tuned for that one!
