Remember Da Vinci Code? I was first drawned to watch it because of all the controversy sorrounding it but I never got the chance to read the book. Religion has always fascinated me – I just enjoy the arguments from time to time. Anyway, at about the same time that Da Vinci Code movie trailers were airing there was also a lot of talk about another book that preceeded it – Angels and Demons – and many said that it won’t make it to the big screen because it was far more controversial than the Da Vinci Code… I had to read it.

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
The book was a page turner. When I read a book I do it slowly and occasionally close my eyes and imagine the scenes. Books like this where the characters are clearly described, I also imagine hearing their voices with my own best effort interpretation of their tone and accent. Having said all that, I was still able to finish the book in 2 days. I remember bringing it to El Nido, Palawan and since it was raining – I literally spent a whole day just turning the pages of Dan Brown’s masterpiece. Every page makes you realize how much research and imagination he poured into this book. Amazing pare!
Moving forward to the movie… it was hard to sit there fighting off conclusions that you already know from the book. I wanted to experience the movie as if I had no idea about the twists and turns in the story. Unfortunately, I gave in and kept comparing it to the book – I had spoiled the movie in my head. I thought all was gone and I will now fall into the trap of matching pages in the book to scenes in the movie. I was wrong. I genuinely enjoyed this movie. 1/4 into the movie, you start to loose yourself in the scenes and focus on keeping up with all the action. Amazing! It was not until the last few minutes of the movie when I regained control and focused my eyes on that twisted revelation that is to come. HAhaahaha.. that’s how far I will go. If you haven’t read the book – I envy the experience. For those who have read the book, this is worth watching my friend.
