For the executive lunch that day, Il Ponticello served up a rib eye steak. Yumyum. It comes with a choice of salad or soup, I had the salad. Healthy kunwari. Haha. Anyway, the steak was good and to my surprise, I enjoyed the salad.

The place needs some work. At night when it transforms to a bar, you wouldn’t mind the uneven table or the wobbly chairs but at lunch you just notice it. Anyway, they’ve been around for a long time and everyone knows the place so I guess it works coz it feels familiar like it was frozen in time.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted fetuccine tartufo but I was pretty sure that I miss the taste of truffles.  Anyway, lucky me they have a sampler called Buono Trio. If I got the fetuccine tartufo it would set me back 495 pesos but if I got the sampler which already included the fetuccine tartufo, damage to my pocket wil only be 425 pesos. San ka pa?

So I went ahead and ordered the trio. The other 2 pasta dishes to complete the trio were spaghetti al negro and linguini something. Sorry forgot and taste wise, it is forgettable.

Nevertheless, sulit pa din because the 2 (fetucccine tartufo and spaghetti al negro) pasta dishes were yummy. Surprisingly, I found the spaghetti al negro delicious. Not as salty as I remember this dish to be.  Excellent!

Kung pao chicken – surprisingly, I did not fancy this new creation. I guess its the sauce – the taste is quite strong if you ask me. The peanuts were whole and for dishes like this, I prefer them crushed. So there, if you like really strong asian tastes – imagine the asian salad dressing they have poured into pasta with some nuts, chicken and spring onions then you might like this.

Chicken Alfredo – this one meets the fastfood standards in my book. Its not amazing but where else can you find a cream based pasta in the world of fast food? Don’t answer that, I know there are a few out there. Anyways, this satisfies the craving for kiddie pasta urges and the cheese they use works with it.

Last, I was wondering if KFC was doing their part to save the planet – the styro bowl threw me off but when I flipped the bowl, if what is says is right, then I guess they are doing there part.

I may be shifting my interest to reviewing new fast food menu items because its cheaper and someones gotta do it.

We woke up at around 10 in the morning on that rainy Sunday to try and catch the fight. We were planning to go to National Sports Grill to watch it live on the big screen. On our way to NSG, we saw this banner from Italiannis – weekend brunch buffet for Php655 only. It was like a spot light was directly pointing to this 5ft green banner. Excellent… Last Pacquiao fight, I recall watching it also at Italiannis where they also had a pay-per-view setup so everyone can watch it live. The place was probably 2/3 full – everyone probably had the same idea – eat all you can while watching the fight. Perfect!We were lucky to get a table right in front of the lcd monitor. When we sat down, the Pacquiao – Diaz fight was already starting – round 3. I was already hungry but I couldn’t take my eyes off the fight AND when I glanced on to the buffet table I also couldn’t take my eyes off the food! They had a decent variety of food types to choose from and it was brunch so you can choose between a heavy or light meal. Mmmmm…Anyway, the bell rang – 2 boxers back to their corners and that means that its my turn to fight! Food! I hurried to the buffet tables mainly because everyone was doing the same. It was a race to get as much food as you can and get back to your seat before the bell rings or else you’ll be risking tripping with a plate full of food.

For 655 bucks, I would recommend it – quality food with good variety.

Penne with meat sauce, fettuccine with meatballs, crusted fish, chicken, pizza, sausages, hotdogs, basked mussels and clams, seafood pasta, salads, and you can make your own pasta – decide on a number of ingredients that they have and they will cook it right in front of you. Even omelets – brunch remember?

For dessert, they have a chocolate fountain, some crepes, ice cream, bite size baked goodies, and many more. Good deal.

The actual cost plus vat and service charges will probably be around 755 per person.

Feast your eyes on this one! I placed a pack of cigarettes so you have a reference on the size. We ordered a 20″ Pizza Niro (I think). And they have a 30″ one – can’t wait to come up with an excuse to order that one.

Its around 600 bucks, as far as I remember. The 30″ pizzas will cost around a thousand pesos. Sweet deal if you ask me. You can actually role it up! Crust is just right – just the way I like it.

I was feeling a bit under the weather today so instead of venturing out to the mall to look for food, I decided to call in sick and have some delivered.

Looking through my folder of food delivery flyers I saw Brooklyn Pizza – I’m pretty sure that it’s been more than a year since I last had a bite of their pizza. So I ordered in. They only have pizzas so you can’t expect to order any side dishes. the best part is you can split this 18 inch monster of a pizza to as many as 4 flavors in one order. I decided to split mine in half – one half is pepperoni with mushrooms, other half is what they call porko – all meat with bacon. Yummy!

The damage to my funds was around 580 pesos, but that’s ok because my sister was coming over to bring me some medicine – we can both take on the challenge.

It took Brooklyn Pizza, Makati branch, about 40 minutes to get to my house which was fine because I had no plans of getting up during the first 30 minutes of waiting.

Here’s my monster review on this monster pizza:

1. 18 inches – cool!

2. Taste – meat is about average but the pizza sauce, tomato, was a bit on the bland side. I had to put some ketchup and or my favorite chilli garlic sauce to get it to my liking.

3. Ask them to cut it into smaller slices – the slices are a mouth full.

Anyway, I still have 2 slices left. I’ll devour that tomorrow.
