I’ve been reviving my blogs for the past couple of weeks and while reading up on some local blogs, I encountered a post about google adsense checks not arriving. According to the blog post, some bad apples from our ever reliable postal department were hi-jacking the checks.  So if you are one of those publishers who tried out adsense then forgot about it, you might wanna check again.

Anyway, that’s why I tried the secure express delivery option. For $20 they dhl your check and you get it in a week. Its a bit heavy if you’re like me who just blogs for beer funds but if you think about it, it’s better than nothing.

1. Create a gmail account – duh?
2. Make sure you have a site or blog hosted somewhere.  2 easy ways – buy your own domain and hosting and if you don’t know what the hell that is and you don’t have the patience to learn and set it up then you opt to register and create an account on some site like blogspot.com
3. After that, you will end up with a domain name like mydomain.com and if you opted to create one on blogspot.com then you will have blog like myname.blogspot.com (myname is the name of your blog)
4. Now you are ready, grab a cup of coffee or beer and head on to adsense.com and signup – just follow the steps
5. Make sure you put in all legitimate details because they need all that to pay you.
6. Be sure to use the domain you created in the signup process… Do not.. I repeat.. Do not register a domain with nothing in it.  No content is a quick trip to rejection valley.
7. After clicking submit.. be patient and keep on checking your gmail.  Normally they respond in a week or two if your site is approved or rejected.  So just read the reasons and adjust accordingly.

Acceptance Email – yehey!

1. Congratulations and welcome to the world of cheap thrills.  Hahaha.  I say that because it takes a while before you start earning a decent amount of money that will probably end up as your gas allowance or in my case, drinking allowance.
2. You are now ready to set up your ads – now there are tons of info and how-to’s out there for this so you may want to read up on a few of them.  Or you can just discover – the interface is very intuitive anyways.
3. Note that you can only have one adsense account registered to your name, email and address – don’t try to setup new ones with the same details – you’ll definitly get rejected.  Besides, you can have ‘channels’ which basically equal either sections of your site or a different site where you want to put in some ads.  I can’t put in all the details to that right now – probably a separate post.
4. Ok, let’s move on to the good stuff – click on setup ads and chose from text and images to just text.  I recommend text   Not all internet users have developed the blind eye for that yet – if you know what I mean
5. If you follow the steps, you will end up with a code which you simply copy and paste to your site   In blogspot – its where you setup your side bars under customize pages.
