Social Media Overtakes Porn as #1 Online Activity

I kid you not!  Porn is no longer the #1 activity done online – are you surprised that it used to be the number one activity?  Hahaha – It’s a billion dollar industry online!  Anyway, pornography probably got tucked into social networking activities.  There’s a number of cool facts showed in this video presentation created by SocialNomics.  Here’s a few interesting ones:

• 1 out of 8 couples married in the US last year have met via social media
• 96% of Gen Y have joined a social network
• It took radio 38 yrs to reach 50 Million, 13 years for TV, 4 years for the Internet 3 years for IPod BUT Facebook did 100Million users in just 9 months
• IPod Applications download hit 1 Billion in less than 9 months – that’s a lot of downloads
• And of course, Social media is now the number 1 activity done online and has overtaken pornography… BOOO!
